The General Assembly of the World Healthcare Travel Council (GHTC) was held under the Presidency of Croatia. The Council (GHTC) was established in Monaco under the founding presidency of Turkey, with the participation of the United States of America, United Arab Emirates Dubai, United Kingdom, Estonia, Croatia, India, Nigeria, Panama, Poland, Senegal, Ukraine, Jordan and Greece. Today, the Presidency of the World Health Tourism Council, which includes 56 countries, passed to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Ahmet Savaşan ELECTED THE PRESIDENT OF THE TERM…

The Presidency of the High Advisory Board for the 2023-24 period is assumed by TRNC Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, TRNC Deputy Cyprus Health Tourism Council President Dr. Ahmet Savaşan was elected.

FOUNDING PRESIDENT EMİN ÇAKMAK DIRECTED THE MEETING

Having also served as the Deputy Minister of Health responsible for the development of health tourism in Croatia, the 6th term chairman of the council, Dr. GHTC Founding President Emin Çakmak moderated the general assembly meeting where Miljenko Bura made the opening speech.

“GHTC AGAINST ALL KIND OF DISCRIMINATION”

In his speech at the General Assembly, the Founding President Emin Çakmak emphasized that there is no political evaluation and discrimination in any subject in the World Health Tourism Council, and pointed out that the countries that fulfill the necessary conditions can become members of the organization with their own flags and languages and participate in the elections.

In his speech, Emin Çakmak also announced that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has fulfilled all the conditions to be a candidate for the presidency and that there is no problem in its candidacy for the term presidency.

ACCREDITATION, DIGITALIZATION ISSUES ARE DISCUSSED…

At the general assembly meeting, where the annual report was presented by the chairman of the term Croatia, the expansion of the international network of GHTC, new member country registrations, accreditation, training programs, digitalization, and developments in the field of health tourism were discussed. Subsequently, the candidate for the term presidency, Dr. Ahmet Savaşan brought the projects they plan to implement during the term presidency of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to the information of the general assembly.

“OUR GOAL IS TO INCREASE COOPERATION BETWEEN MEMBER COUNTRIES…”

At the general assembly meeting, where Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu also attended, Ataoğlu congratulated the country representatives for their valuable contributions to the development of health tourism. Minister Ataoğlu also thanked the Founding President Emin Çakmak for his decisive support for the TRNC’s representation in the World Health Tourism Council since the first day.

Ataoğlu stated that during the term presidency of the TRNC, they will primarily support the development of health tourism on a global scale and the efforts to increase cooperation between member countries and between member states and Northern Cyprus.

“GLOBAL HEALTHCARE TRAVEL FORM WILL BE MADE IN TRNC…”

Underlining that they will give the necessary support to the work to be carried out by the Council in the 2023-24 period, Minister Ataoğlu said that GHTC’s institutionalization and international visibility will be increased, including hosting the Global Healthcare Travel Forum in North Cyprus in 2024. He also said they would contribute.

President of the Health Tourism Council (Global Healthcare Travel Council – GHTC) Dr. Explaining that Ahmet Savaşan was elected and the term presidency passed to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Emin Çakmak also announced that China, Saudi Arabia, Croatia, Germany, India, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Morocco were elected as vice-presidential countries at the general assembly.

Dr., who was elected as the 7th term president to represent the TRNC to the World Healthcare Travel Council (GHTC). Ahmet Savaşan has been the Vice President of the organization since 2018.
